Pregnancy Pain
The occurrence of diverse pregnancy pain experiences might ruin your excitement for the developing baby inside your womb. However, it should not! Pregnancy aches, pain, and stress are part of the experience as your body adapts to the hormonal changes within. And because it is common, several ways of alleviating this condition has been developed to make the experience so much easier for mothers.
There are simple ways of providing relief for common pregnancy pains. However, you need to consult with your doctor first before conducting any of these relief measures, to ensure the safety of the baby inside your womb. If the doctor has approved it, then you can start doing this at home, as soon as pain begins.
Massage
Massages are known to relieve any form of pain or aches experienced regardless of which body part. However, here are more useful ways to ensure a safe prenatal massage:
- You need to inform whoever is going to massage you that you are pregnant.
- Most massage sessions are accompanied by the application of certain herbal massage oils. However, there are certain massage oils that might not be best for your condition. Most of the common herbs that could complicate your pregnancy include: parsley seed, aloe vera, sage, rosemary, juniper, cinnamon, among others. On the other hand, lavender or peppermint are recommended herbs for pregnant women.
- If you do not want to use herbal oils, you can opt for unscented ones. Most of them are widely available in several drug stores.
- Once you have passed your first trimester, you are no longer allowed to lay with your stomach against the ground. So if you insist on having a back massage, you can do it on the sides.
Meditation and Yoga
These two methods are one of the most efficient ways of relieving stress and pain. Today, there are several yoga classes that cater to pregnant women. So if you find one near your area, make sure to enlist for it. Not only does it help you learn how to use yoga and meditation to relieve yourself of any pregnancy pains, you can share experiences with fellow pregnant women too. This is a great way to educate yourself on how to properly deal with this condition, especially if this is your first time having a baby.
If there are none of these near your area, you can purchase a yoga and meditation video especially for pregnant women. They consist of useful instructions on how to perform those stretching exercises and which area of the body to target for fast relief.
There are specific exercises depending on which trimester you are on, while guiding you on how to safely achieve a calming meditation.
Chiropractic
Aside from the hormonal changes, women have difficulty dealing with the extra weight in their belly. Hence, the back and legs often suffer as a consequence. By going to a chiropractor, they will easily locate misaligned bones and return them into position. This should help relieve of any pain you are suffering from. After correcting any of those misaligned bones, you must perform regular exercise. This will help keep you in shape as you prepare for your delivery.
